[Would love to read your thoughts at the end of this post......]
"I had to remind myself that God is always in control. He could have chosen to prevent the accident, commanding angels to divert the other car. He could have altered the timing slightly, or He could have taken me Home that afternoon. But He didn't do any of these. Why? Why did He allow this accident to take place and why did He allow my familiar life to become so foreign? I found myself strangely unsettled as I searched for explanations as to why I was so confused in familiar surroundings."

I think we all ask these types of questions when life's seas toss us around callously. My prayer time became "messy" because I couldn't focus and ongoing questions always came to the forefront, prodded by frustration. I needed answers and I felt God was not responding to my pleas for resolution. Instead of seeking to commune with my Heavenly Father, I was really stating my "wish list"...what I wanted Him to do to give me back the familiar life I abruptly lost.
Have you ever felt like this? Have you wondered why God seems un-responsive, indifferent or silent when you ask tough questions? Has your mind wordlessly challenged your assurance that God is even listening?
Doubt is a sly antagonist which creates a restless whirlpool of confusion, trepidation and fear. Unless we surrender our doubts to God, we will be sucked into a never-ending spiral of despair. That's NOT where He wants us to be.
Faith-Steps: Then vs. Now [Truths God has taught me]
God is never indifferent to our prayers. He just needs us to listen intently with open hearts after we have thrown back the lid on our box of questions. He cannot speak to us [and we cannot hear Him] when we keep rambling on impatiently, sometimes demanding answers that we deem suitable. When we ask God questions, it means we do acknowledge His presence. But then we must wait...quietly and patiently for Him to reveal His answers....that may take one hour, one day or several years...but HIS answers are worth waiting for. They are always the right answers and they keep us from succumbing to the swirling seas of turmoil and doubt.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." [James 1: 5,6 NIV]
God is always faithful. God is always trustworthy.
